Road rage leads to chase, pepper spray incident in Bluefield

BLUEFIELD — Bluefield police are investigating a chase between the drivers of two vehicles that began in Princeton and ended in Bluefield with both parties attempting to pepper spray each other.

The incident started when one driver allegedly swerved into the path of the other vehicle on Courthouse Road outside of Princeton. Patrolman K.L. Adams said the chase went west on Route 460 and ended near the intersection of Route 460 and Cumberland Road when both parties attempted to pepper spray each other, according to Adams.

Dovie Small, 46, of Princeton was traveling with her 16-year-old daughter and the daughter’s 16-year old friend, Adams said. Two Princeton women, one 21 and the other 22, were in the other vehicle.

Small was arrested and charged with child endangerment and reckless driving, Adams said. Magistrate Sandra Dorsey set a $25,000 bond. The two women in the other car have not been charged.

Adams said the incident was sparked by an ongoing argument on Facebook.
