The Bluefield High School Beaver Band rocked downtown Bluefield Friday, bringing the 25th season of the Chicory Square Concert series to a close.
Local residents gathered at Chicory Square to hear the band members perform music from their pep rally and football repertoire as well as songs from artists including Journey, Green Day, Aerosmith and the Eagles. The free weekly summer concert series is sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph.
Teresa Eckman of Bluefield came to the concert series to see her son Bevan perform with the band.
“He plays clarinet with the band, so I came to see him,” she said. “They are really good for a band of their size. I think this helps him be part of the community and brings people together. Community spirit is always a good thing. This also helps the kids gear up for the big game.”
