Truck hauling water pipes overturns on Windmill Gap Road

BRAMWELL — No injuries were reported today after a wrong turn led to a truck being overturned on Windmill Gap Road near the McDowell County line.

The accident happened approximately 11:45 a.m. when a truck hauling water pipes overturned, said Sgt. D.W. Miller of the West Virginia State Police Princeton detachment.

“Basically, the driver was supposed to have gone to Windmill Gap Mountain the other way,” Miller said. “He took the wrong turn and the road was too narrow for his truck, and when he tried to make a sharp turn, his trailer got on a shoulder, slid over the hill and flipped his truck over.”

Miller said there were no injuries. A small amount of diesel fuel and oil leaked from the truck.
