A West Virginia Division of Highways snow plow operator in McDowell County has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, officials said Thursday.
Deputy R. L. Jones with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on Burke Mountain near Keystone Wednesday night at 11:30 p.m. on a DOH snow plow, Sheriff Martin B. West said.
West said the deputy found that the driver of the snow plow, Thomas Keith Henderson, 57, of Elkhorn, was intoxicated. West said Henderson was charged with D.U.I. (CDL) and defective equipment. Henderson was working for the DOH to clear roads with the large snow plow at the time of his arrest.
West said the legal limit for a CDL Driver is .040 while the legal limit for a driver’s license is .080. Henderson was transported to the McDowell County Holding Unit to await arraignment before a magistrate.
Henderson was arraigned this morning before Magistrate Steve Cox and bond was set at $500. West said Henderson was bonded out.
