An arrest has been made in the two-year-old murder of a Summers County man who regularly traveled through Mercer County while commuting to his job in Pineville.
James “Bo” Butler, 55, of Hill Top was reported missing April 5, 2011 after he failed to report for work. Searchers in Mercer County checked the Lashmeet area, part of the route Butler usually took to work, for clues. Butler’s body was later found three weeks later in a remote part of Wyoming County.
Oscar Ross Combs, 44, a Wyoming County resident, was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree murder, according to First Sgt. M.T. Baylous of the West Virginia State Police. The arrest was made with assistance from the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Department.
Combs is currently incarcerated at the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver.
