TAZEWELL, Va. —
People using smart phones and tablets can now get an app that will let them get alerts from and share information with the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office.
Available on iPhone apps users can get alerts about incidences such as major crashes and missing persons, said Tazewell County Sheriff Brian Hieatt.
The app can also be used to contact the sheriff’s office and leave anonymous tips as well as the listing of missing persons.
Major Harold Heatley said the app is now available and he hopes to see as many as 2,500 people get it on the first week. The new system is being funded by drug forfeiture funds, said Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee.
