Bluefield bank robbed by man on bicycle

BLUEFIELD — Authorities are searching downtown Bluefield for a man on a bicycle who robbed the drive-through at First Community Bank Monday morning.

According to Bluefield Police Chief Dennis Dillow, an unidentified male robbed the Bluefield First Community bank drive-through on a bicycle at 9:59 a.m. Monday.

The man presented a firearm and held a note up to the window demanding cash, Dillow said.

“He was given the cash, and then he fled,” Dillow said.

The man was wearing a black hoodie, black gloves and a black mask, Dillow said. The bicycle he was riding was also black.

Dillow said the man fled east, toward the intersection of Scott Street and Princeton Avenue.

Officers with the Bluefield Police Department and the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department K-9  unit are searching for the suspect.

Authorities did not disclose the amount of cash taken.
