Prep football predictions

BLUEFIELD — Bluefield (5-1) at Westside (4-3): Bluefield missed the 50-point mark for a fifth straight week by one point. Westside has surrendered at least 20 points in all seven games. Bluefield 38, Westside 20.

Montcalm (3-3) at Craig County (3-3): The Generals were once 3-1, but now they’re trying to snap a two-game losing skid. The Rockets have wins over teams with a combined mark of 1-16. Craig County 34, Montcalm 23.

Princeton (1-6) at Spring Valley (3-3): The Timberwolves have three defeats to teams with a combined 17-2 mark. George Washington’s Ryan Switzer (North Carolina) ran all over the Tigers. Spring Valley features WVU signee Elijah Wellman. Spring Valley 44, Princeton 16.

Summers County (4-3) at Meadow Bridge (6-1): The Bobcats snapped a three-game losing skid at Independence. The Wildcats rebounded from its first loss with a 42-3 beating of Grundy. Summers County 24, Meadow Bridge 23.

Carroll County (1-5, 0-1) at Richlands (1-0, 6-1): The final meeting between schools that will be in separate districts next season. The Cavaliers always scare the Blues, but rarely get it done. Richlands 21, Carroll County 15.

Tazewell (0-6, 0-0) at Marion (3-4, 0-1): That 17-game losing streak isn’t likely to end tonight as Ethan Richardson and the Scarlet Hurricane, who fought Richlands to a 24-14 loss last week. Marion 36, Tazewell 27.

Bland County (0-1, 0-6) at Grayson County (1-0, 5-1): Grayson County pushed Graham around last Saturday, and have scored 41.7 points per game. The Bears have scored 41 points. Grayson County 56, Bland County 6.

Haysi (4-2, 1-0) at Twin Valley (1-5, 0-2): The Tigers have won three straight. Twin Valley’s lone win came over winless Phelps, Ky. Call it four in a row for Haysi. Haysi 44, Twin Valley 13.

Honaker (5-1, 0-1) at Hurley (4-2, 0-1): The Rebels have won four straight, while the Tigers haven’t played since losing at Richlands. Hurley simply doesn’t have the numbers to pull an upset. Honaker 48, Hurley 22.

Narrows (1-5, 1-0) at Fort Chiswell (5-1, 0-1): Joe Hall returned at quarterback to help Narrows end its 18-game losing skid. He is expected to miss tonight’s game with the Pioneers, who are led by college prospect Coleman Thomas. Fort Chiswell 45, Narrows 12.

Giles (5-1, 1-0) at Glenvar (2-4, 0-1): Glenvar has scored 71 points in their last two games, and allowed 99. Giles has tallied 49 points an outing of its last four contests. Giles 42, Glenvar 23.

Graham (4-2, 0-1) at Galax (4-2, 0-1): Galax lost by a point to Fort Chiswell, while the G-Men were getting beat by Grayson County. The Maroon Tide won this matchup 45-14 last year. Galax 35, Graham 20.

East Ridge, Ky. (1-6) at Grundy (3-3): The Golden Wave needs to snap its two-game losing skid, while the Warriors have surrendered 41.3 points per game, having also lost to fellow BDD foe Hurley. Grundy 46, East Ridge 33.

Shady Spring (3-3) at Wyoming East (5-2): The Warriors could be 7-0 if not for a two-point loss at Westside and a three-point defeat at Mount View. The Tigers are 3-0 against Class AA schools. Shady Spring 28, Wyoming East 26.
