Concord University to host dinner theatre

ATHENS —  Concord University will be hosting a dinner theatre entitled “The Passing of Pearl,” presented by 4Pals Productions. This event will be held on Wednesday, March 20, in the ballroom on the third floor of the Jerry and Jean Beasley Student Center. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m.

“The Passing of Pearl” was written by Concord alum Vain Colby and is directed by Thomas Lester. The play takes place in Memphis, Tenn., during the 1980s in a diner next to the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. The message of this play deals with secrets, forgiveness, the Civil Rights Movement and friendships.

4Pals Productions is a non-profit organization founded by Colby, Lester, Skip Crane and Jim Jenks that produces original works that are written, directed, staged and acted by area artists.

Reservations can be made by contacting Nancy Ellison at nellison@concord.edu or 304-384-6086. Tickets are $10 per person. Admission is free for Concord University students. The event is open to the public. Reservations will be accepted through noon on Wednesday, March 20.
