Festival comes to Richlands

RICHLANDS — The Greater Richlands Area Festival and James H. Drew Carnival will be June 18-22 in downtown Richlands. Admission is free, but tickets must be purchased for rides. The week starts with the Miss Greater Richlands Pageant on Saturday, June 15 at 1 p.m., at the Richlands Middle School Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and free for children under five. Pre-registration is required. The pageant is open to Boys 0-2 and 3-6. Girls 0-12 months, 13-23 months, 2 years old, 3-4 years, 5-7 years, 8-10 years, 11-12 years, 13-15 years and 16 - 22 years of age. A $500 Ambassador Scholarship will be presented to Miss Greater Richlands (16-22 years old). Pageant contestants will have the opportunity to participate in the Governor’s Bowl Challenge, Feeding America. Pageant entry fee is $50, which covers all categories. Music will also be part of the festival. Driftin’ Westward will perform on Thursday, June 20 at 8 p.m. The Bennie Jones and CMT band will play on Friday, June 21at 8 p.m.

On Saturday, June 22, there will be children’s art camp at 10 a.m and free rides from noon to 1 p.m. At 1 p.m., there will be pet show at the front lawn at Richlands High School. Any and all pets are welcome, dogs, cats, birds, snakes, guinea pigs and more. Coyote and Friends band will take the stage at 8 p..
