Aerosmith to perform at this summer’s Greenbrier Classic

Aerosmith coming to The Greenbrier Classic

FAIRLEA —  The Greenbrier Classic Concert Series will feature a legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band this summer.

Aerosmith is slated to hit the amphitheater stage near the W.Va. State Fairgrounds in Fairlea on Saturday, July 6, it has been confirmed to The Register-Herald.

“This is big,” said Jim Justice, chairman and owner of The Greenbrier. “Aerosmith is the biggest act that we’ve brought to The Greenbrier Classic so far. They’re the top-selling American rock band of all time. We’re very pleased to have them.”

But Justice wasn’t done with surprises Wednesday.

“You know ticket prices right now are $199 for a weekly grounds badge and that’s a lot of money,” Justice said. “And these are the most expensive, best acts we’ve been able to acquire. But I want everybody to be able to come.

“So in the spirit of the Tribute to the Virginias lodging packages we’ve offered the last few years we are going to drop those badge prices down to $159. For those who have paid $199 already they can either have the difference refunded or they can receive a voucher good to purchase anything on the grounds during the tournament.”

Justice went on to talk about Aerosmith.

“With (Aerosmith lead singer) Steven Tyler being a judge on American Idol recently, we feel that Aerosmith appeals to an even wider demographic.”

Aerosmith is celebrating the 40th anniversary of the release of its self-titled debut album this year. The disc featured the group’s first hit, “Dream On.” Last November, the group released its 15th studio album, titled “Music From Another Dimension,” which includes the single “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You” featuring guest vocalist Carrie Underwood, a Greenbrier Classic Concert Series veteran performer herself.

Aerosmith has accumulated 21 Top 40 hits in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and seven Top 10s. Other rock anthems include “Walk This Way”, “Sweet Emotion”, “Livin’ On The Edge”, “Cryin’” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
