Hobby Lobby a plus for mall

— — Hobby Lobby, a family-owned national chain, is now open for business at the Mercer Mall. It’s a new and welcomed addition to our region.

We applaud the company for taking a chance on Mercer County, and helping to bring new shopping opportunities to our region. Up until now, area residents had to travel either to Beckley or Kingsport, Tenn. to shop at Hobby Lobby. And most importantly — the new store at the Mercer Mall has created 65 new jobs for area residents.

As its name would suggest, Hobby Lobby is a leading national hobby and craft supplier. Departments in the store include floral, fabric, needle art, custom framing, baskets, home accents, wearable art, arts and crafts, jewelry making, scrapbooking and paper crafting supplies. But you can also find model cars, trains, planes and even water-propelled rockets, among other unique novelties.

Greater Bluefield Chamber of Commerce President Marc Meachum says Hobby Lobby has a reputation of having among the best business operations in the country. “We are delighted to be a part of it,” Meachum said. “Now people can stay in Bluefield to shop instead of having to go to Beckley or other places.”

We agree. And we are glad to see Hobby Lobby is now open for business in the region.
