Morgantown fights fires after gridiron win

MORGANTOWN — Police say 10 fires were set and a car was flipped in Morgantown following West Virginia University’s 30-21 win over No. 11 Oklahoma State.

Media outlets report that the fires occurred Saturday night and early Sunday morning. All were extinguished without incident and there were no injuries.

Morgantown Fire Marshal Capt. Ken Tennant says one person was cited for malicious burning.

WVU police are examining social media posts in an attempt to identify three people who flipped a car on its side in a WVU parking lot. A video of the incident was posted on YouTube and later removed.

In additional to any criminal penalties, WVU spokesman John Bolt says any student involved in the incidents could face disciplinary measures, which include suspension or expulsion.
