Season ends for BSC, Concord golf

WHEELING —  The Bluefield State golf team collectively had their best round of golf in the final day of the NCAA II Atlantic/East Regional but it was not enough to climb into the top three of the team standings to advance to the NCAA II National Championships as they finished seventh for the second consecutive year at the NCAA II Atlantic/East Regional.

The Big Blues concluded the event with a 913 (322-299-292).

Nick Dent led the Big Blues, shooting a one-over par 72 to finish the tournament with a 224 and tied for sixth place in the individual standings.

Jeff McGraw had his best day of the three-day event, carding a 73 to finish with a 232 and tied for 39th individually. Chandler Beavers finished one stroke back with a 233 and tied for 46th place.

Tyler Browning and TJ Knight also had their best outings of the tournament on the final day. Browning shot a 72 to finish with a 235 while Knight posted a 75 for a final score of 238.

Concord placed ninth in the event, shooting a three-day total of 923. The finish gives the Mountain Lions consecutive top-10 finishes at the NCAA Regionals in the last two seasons.

Concord posted its best round of the tournament Wednesday with a third-round score of 293, which was the fifth lowest score of the day.

Stefan Labuschagne and Evan Muscari finished as part of a five-way tie for 22nd overall. Labuschagne shot a 69 in the third round, tying for the best individual score in the round. Muscari concluded the tournament with personal-best score of 75.

Nathaniel Begley finished in a tie for 61st (237), while Concord's fourth and fifth finishers were Patrik Leveau (239) and Graham product Matt Morgan (239).

Indiana (Pa.) won the regional with a total score of 891. Also earning trips to the NCAA Championships Wilmington and California (Pa.).

The Mountain Lions' season ends having won three tournaments during the season, including the final WVIAC tournament.
