CU's Jones earns weekly honor

BRIDGEPORT — Concord University volleyball middle hitter Sarah Jones is the Mountain East Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, after she led Concord to four straight wins last week.

Jones totaled 40 kills (3.08 per set), a .265 attack percentage, 16 blocks (1.23 per set) and 23 digs (1.77 per set). In a big win against West Virginia Wesleyan, Jones recorded 15 kills, nine digs and four blocks, one solo.

For the season, Jones leads Concord with 193 kills (2.72 per set), a .233 attack percentage, 15 aces, 144 digs (2.03 per set) and 58 total blocks (0.82 per set).

Concord will take its four-match winning streak on the road for four contests starting with a showdown at Notre Dame College on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m.

The Mountain Lions enter the week with an 11-10 overall record and a 3-3 mark in MEC play.
