CU volleyball earns first MEC win

FARMINGTON, Pa. — The Concord University men’s golf team finished in eighth place Tuesday in the Challenge at Mystic Rock tournament in Farmington, Pa.

The Mountain Lions finished the three-round event with an overall score of 949 (+85). Host California (Pa.) won the tournament with a score of 907 (+43). The Vulcans were followed in the top-five by Davis & Elkins (909 / +45), Charleston (912 / +48), Indiana (Pa.) (914 / +50) and Allegheny College (921 / +57). Davis & Elkins’ Sebastian Bendsen finished at even par to earn medalist honors.

The Mountain Lions were led by senior Evan Muscari, who finished in a tie for 16th place at +14 (230).

The Mountain Lions close out their fall schedule Oct. 13-15 at the inaugural Mountain East Conference Championship Tournament.


Mountain Lions sweep UVa.-Wise, 3-0

ATHENS — The Concord volleyball team earned its first Mountain East Conference win of the year with a 3-0 victory over UVa.-Wise, Tuesday night at the Carter Center.

The Mountain Lions picked up its sixth shutout of the season with set victories of 25-20, 25-21 and 25-20. The triumph improves CU’s record to 8-10 overall and 1-3 in MEC play. The Cavilers fall to 4-10 on the season and 0-4 in league matches.

Concord continues its four-match homestand 7 p.m. Thursday vs. West Virginia Wesleyan.
