Big Blues win streak now at four

PARKERSBURG — The Bluefield State baseball team extended their win streak to four games with a conference sweep of Ohio Valley University Saturday afternoon.

The Big Blues (4-10, 3-4 WVIAC) defeated the Fighting Scots (3-14, 0-7) by scores of 6-2 and 13-12.

Freshman J.C. Pennington pitched the complete game in the opener, striking out six and yielding five hits and two unearned runs. Dale Davis and Clay Ayers led BSC at the plate with two hits apiece. Davis and Willie Yates each had two RBIs.

In the nightcap, the Big Blues raced out to a 10-2 lead highlighted by a seven-run third inning. The Scots led 12-10 in the seventh, when Yates tied the game on a groundout to bring home Sean Williams and Davis scored the game winning run on a wild pitch for the second time this week.

Freshman Taylor Perez earned the win after pitching 1 1/3 innings, giving up two hits and striking out three batters.
