Bluefield still playing in Mid-South

COLUMBIA, Ky. —  Bluefield College’s first visit to the Mid-South Conference baseball tournament wasn’t a good one.

However, Bluefield bounced back to defeat Lindsey Wilson 8-5 in an elimination game later that night.

Bluefield dropped an eight inning 12-2 decision to St. Catharine in the opening round on Sunday afternoon.

Jacob Wright had two hits and two runs scored for Bluefield, and also joined Chris McCollister with an RBI apiece.

Zak Russell-Myers was tagged with the loss.

Bluefield scored five runs in the fifth and three in the seventh to defeat Lindsey Wilson later on Sunday.

Daniel Copeland led the Rams’ 16-hit attack with three hits, while Russell-Myers had two hits and drove in two runs. Wright also had two hits for the Rams, and Tyler Timmer had two RBIs.

Kenneth Miranda earned the win in relief of Ryan Shockey.

Bluefield (33-16) will play either Georgetown or Shawnee State in an elimination game today at 5 p.m.  

Bluefield (32-16) will participate in the NCCAA national tournament next week.
