CU softball wins

LAURINBURG, N.C. — The Concord University softball team started its 2014 season on a high-note Sunday with a doubleheader sweep, defeating St. Andrew's University 5-3 and 10-0.

Concord was led at the plate by Kristen Rose, who was 5-for-9 with four runs and five RBI. Jessica Seymour was 4-for-5, scored four runs and stole a pair of bases while Lacey McDougall was 6-for-8 and three RBIs.

McDougall and Allie Reid scattered 10 hits in two games in the circle, while striking out 12.

Concord will participate in the UNC-Pembroke Invitational this weekend.
