The Rams trailed 7-0 at the end of the first quarer. Bluefield’s first score came with 28 seconds left in the first half, on a 21-yard toss to Calfee, making the score 21-7 in favor of the Wildcats after Mikel Hawks’ extra point.

The Rams put together back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter. Josh Wells scored on a seven-yard run to end a 75-yard drive, and Smith caught a 9-yard touchdown pass, setting up a 35-21 tally.

Bethel got the next three touchdowns to put the game out of reach. Bluefield tacked on the game’s final points with 1:59 left in the game, on an 18-yard pass to Whitehead followed by Hawks’ extra point.

The Rams defense was led by Terrell Starckey and Anthony Herring, who each had eight solo tackles. Starckey had five assists; Herring and Zack Hudler each had a quarterback sack.

Bethel (2-2, 2-0 Mid-South) held a yardage advantage of 468 to 260, and obtained 28 first downs to BC’s 17. The Rams had to punt eight times and fumbled the ball away once.

Bluefield (0-5) plays next Saturday at noon at Union College in Kentucky.
