Marshall stops FAU in C-USA play

EL PASO, Texas — Marshall made it a clean sweep of Florida Atlantic, as the No. 14 Thundering Herd men’s basketball team advanced in the Conference USA Tournament with a 63-59 win over the No. 11 Owls on Tuesday night.

Earlier in the day, the Marshall women advanced with a win over Florida Atlantic.

Chris Thomas scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Kareem Canty added 12 points, as the Herd forced 15 turnovers and added 14 offensive rebounds.

Marquan Botley paced the Owls with 26 points.

Marshall (11-21) will play sixth-seeded Old Dominion today at 4:30 p.m.
