Stongs going strong at Western Carolina

BLUEFIELD —  Richlands product Bradley Strong had four hits in two games to help Western Carolina to a doubleheader sweep of Wofford last weekend, as the Catamounts clinched the Southern Conference regular season crown. Strong had two hits and scored a run in a 3-0 first game win, and had a home run, triple and scored two runs in the 10-7 nightcap. Strong, a sophomore, who was a baseball and football standout for the Blue Tornado, is batting .284 with two homers and 24 RBIs in 53 games, with seven doubles, four triples and 13 stolen bases. Strong’s brother, Reece, who is a freshman, has played in 11 games, and is 3 for 7 at the plate. The Catamounts, who have won nine straight and 19 of their last 21 games, are 36-17, and ranked 29th in the latest Division I Collegiate Baseball rankings.
