The Concord University softball team had four players earn All-Conference honors for their outstanding play during the 2013 season. Senior shortstop Becca Gleason earned first team honors; freshman catcher Alyssa Morris received second team recognition while senior first baseman Stephanie Harper and sophomore outfielder Jessica Seymour were given honorable mention. Bluefield State junior Brittany Cook received honorable mention for the second consecutive season.
Twin brothers Dillion and Dakoka Painter will play football in the fall at Bluefield College, according to their father David Painter. The duo played at Maiden High School in North Carolina. Dakota is a 6-foot-3, 212-pound defensive end/tight end, while 6-1, 225-pound Dillion is a linebacker. Both were All-Catawba Valley Athletic Conference selections. Dakota caught 30 passes and had 220 tackles, eight fumble recoveries and two interceptions for Maiden. Dillon had 286 tackles, leading Maiden in tackles three seasons in a row.
