Behind a first-place performance from Stefan Labuschagne, the Concord University men's golf team won the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament Tuesday.
The WVIAC Championship is Concord's fifth conference title in school history and second crown in the last three years.
As a team, Concord finished with a 54-hole score of 898, 16 strokes lower than second place Charleston (914). Rounding out the top-five at the WVIAC tournament were defending champion Bluefield State (928), Davis & Elkins (931) and West Virginia Wesleyan (931).
Labuschagne led the Concord charge earning medalist honors after producing a three-round total of 220. He finished three strokes better than second place finisher Nick Dent of Bluefield State.
Labuschagne is the fourth consecutive Concord golfer to earn the top-spot at the conference championship tournament, joining Sebastian Starud (2011), Emmanuel Charmat (2010) and Ryan Terdik (2009) as medalists winners.
Other Concord players included Nathaniel Begley, who shot a 224 to finish in third place. Evan Muscari and Starud both carded matching 228's to finish in a three-way tie for fifth place.
Matt Morgan placed in a four-way tie for 20th with a total of 237.
CU won three of its four tournaments this fall, sweeping both WVIAC Regional Championship competitions and placing second at the Powerade Classic before winning the WVIAC Tournament.
