Barber honored by Mountain East

Concord junior is player of the week

BRIDGEPORT — Concord University women’s soccer junior back Abby Barber was named the Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday. She netted a two-goal effort, the first of her career, in Concord’s 3-2 overtime loss at Converse College and finished with an assist in the Mountain Lions’ 2-0 win at West Virginia Tech. Barber tallied a team-high six shots on goal in the two games combined.

Concord continues its season-opening three-match road trip 4 p.m. Wednesday at King. The Mountain Lions will host its first game of the season at noon Sunday against West Virginia Wesleyan in MEC competition.
