Concord track standouts Donnie Kirk and Robby Peters have been named West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference male and female Track Athletes of the Week.
Kirk earns her first WVIAC honor of the season after a stellar performance at the Duke Invitational. Kirk broke the school record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 64.99 seconds. Kirk also ranks fourth in the league in the 55-meters, fifth in the 200-meters, seventh in the 60-meters, eighth in the 60-meter hurdles and 10th in the 100-meters.
Peters continues his dominant year with yet another WVIAC honor. At the Duke Invitational, he became the WVIAC leader in the 5,000-meters after running a time of 14:40.90. Peters, the 2012 WVIAC Cross Country Runner of the Year, has already broken five Concord records during the indoor and outdoor track seasons.
On the year, Peters is ranked first in the 5,000-meters, second in the 10,000-meters, second in the 1,600-meters, fifth in the 800-meters and sixth in the 3,000-meter steeple chase.
Concord returns to action this weekend at the Aggie Classic, which will be Mountain Lions’ final warm-up before the WVIAC Championships.
