Lady Rams fall to Highlanders

RADFORD, Va. — Janee Simmons scored 16 points and Asia Wheeler added 10 points and 14 rebounds in a 70-56 exhibition game loss to Radford in front of 233 spectators at the Dedmon Center on Saturday afternoon.

Radford build a 36-28 halftime lead, and only outscored the Rams by two points (32-30) after the break.

Ayana Avery led Radford with 23 points, including a trio of threes, while Kermisha Clark added 13 points and eight board. Aisha Foy had 11 points.

Bluefield outrebounded the Highlanders 41-29, but committed 28 turnovers.

Teqa McNeal added 14 points, while Bluefield High School product Destiny Tolliver blocked five shots.

Bluefield (0-1), which lost its season opener to Virginia Intermont 89-83 on Friday, will host West Virginia Tech on Tuesday, and will play another exhibition at Marshall on Friday.
