Mingo to run BC Rams’ offense

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Bluefield College Head Football Coach Ordell Walker has named Aaron Mingo as offensive coordinator. The Rams’ new play caller was also on staff with Walker at Greenville (Ill.) College, serving in various roles with the Panthers since 2009.

“I am so excited that Coach Mingo will be leading the Rams’ offense in 2013,” Walker said. “He is an incredible coach, motivator and a tremendous recruiter. More importantly, he is a great man of God who will bless the players he comes in contact with.

“I am definitely a better coach with Aaron Mingo around.”

Most recently, Mingo held responsibilities as assistant head football coach, recruiting coordinator, offensive line coach and junior varsity head coach at Greenville.

“I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to join the staff at Bluefield College,” Mingo remarked. “I believe in the school’s mission and Coach Walker’s philosophy in creating men who are successful and significant. It is exciting to be a part of building a new program. “

During his four seasons at Greenville, Mingo helped the Panthers to a 29-12 record, three Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championships and three National Christian College Athletic Association Victory Bowl appearances, including a title in 2012.

His offensive line assisted in the Panthers’ success, helping the offense rank No. 3 and No. 12, respectively, in the nation in 2011 and 2012. In those same seasons, the rushing offense ranked No. 5 and No. 3 in the nation.

Mingo’s highlight as the JV program’s head coach came in 2010, with the team posting a 3-1 record.

The Springfield, Ore., native was also a student-athlete at Greenville, starting three seasons on the offensive line. He earned all-conference honors in 2007, while Walker served as assistant head football coach.

Mingo graduated from Greenville with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice. He also holds a Master of Arts in Education, which he completed in 2011 at Green-ville. He and his wife, Ashley, were married in 2010.

Mingo has already relocated to the Bluefield area and begun work for the upcoming football season.
