Groves earns Valley All-Star honors

BLUEFIELD —  Concord University second baseman Jerrod Groves, left, has been selected to play in the upcoming Valley Baseball League All-Star game on Sunday in Harrisonburg, Va.  Groves, who will be a junior at Concord, has led the

Woodstock River Bandits to a 17-6 record hitting .304 with 13 runs, nine RBI, four doubles and two stolen bases in 20 games played. The Covington, Va. native Groves batted 355 with 48 runs, 42 RBI and 13 stolen bases

for the Mountain Lions last spring. The VBL is an NCAA-sanctioned summer league.
