CU's Lilly tabbed for preseason honor

ATHENS — Concord University linebacker Jake Lilly was recently named one of three NCAA Division II “Brightest Rising Seniors” by the Beyond Sport Network (BSN). The Bluefield High graduate was named conference defensive player of the year last fall after racking up 126 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, half a sack and six pass break-ups in his junior year. He led the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in tackles for a second consecutive season while also ranking fourth in Division II in tackles per game and fifth in solo tackles per game. He was named all-region by Daktronics and the Don Hansen Football Gazette and was a first team BSN All-American.
