Two CU soccer players honored

Freshmen named Mountain East players of the week

BRIDGEPORT — Two Concord University freshman soccer players were named Mountain East Conference defensive players of the week on Monday.

Goalkeeper Kristin Twomey posted a shutout and made three saves in a 1-0 win over King College. She then made eight saves to help Concord earn a 1-1 draw against West Virginia Wesleyan.

Matheus Morgan took the men’s honor. He tallied a pair of assists in a 1-1 week for Concord. He teamed up with Sebastian Escobar to assist on a goal in a win over Virginia Intermont. In a 2-1 loss to Wesleyan, Morgan’s well placed free kick allowed Ryan Forde to tie the game 1-1 before the Bobcats scored the game-winner in overtime.
