Two BC student-athletes get national honor

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Two Bluefield College students were honored Tuesday as players of the week in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

Senior Janee Simmons received the women’s basketball honor in Division 1 by averaging 20 points and 12.6 rebounds in BC’s 2-1 week ending last Saturday. She surpassed the 1,000-point mark in her three-year career at Bluefield with a 15-point, 14-rebound outing against Campbellsville on Senior Day.

Senior Zac Russell-Myers pitched a complete game shutout in the Rams’ Mid-South Conference opener at Cumberlands, going the distance in Friday’s nine-inning game. He allowed just two hits, struck out seven and walked none to improve his record to 3-0 this season.
