CU's Weitzel gains national academic honor

NEW ORLEANS — Concord University cross country standout Jordan Weitzel, a junior from Athens, was named to the 2013 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division II All-Academic team, the organization announced Friday.

Weitzel, who is a history major with a 3.47 GPA, was Concord’s lead runner last season. He ran in all six of CU’s meets in 2013, earning three top-10 finishes.

He was one of just three male runners from the Mountain East Conference to receive the all-academic honors.
