Rams’ hoops, baseball victorious

CONCORD, N.C. — Josh Nesbit scored 12 points and pulled down seven rebounds, and Bluefield College defeated Barber-Scotia 76-68 on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Stathopoulos added 11 points for Bluefield, while Eric Dukes tossed in 10.

Carlos Benton led winless Barber-Scotia (0-22) with 25 points.

Bluefield, which led 40-32 at the break, also recceived nine points and three assists from Kyle Grisby and Devin Page had eight points and six boards.

Bluefield (10-8) will visit Lindsey Wilson on Thursday.

TAKOMA PARK, Md. — Janee Simmons had 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Teqa McNeal added 14 points and five assists in the Lady Rams’ win over the Shock.

Destiny Tolliver added 10 points and 12 boards, while Alexis Grant added 10 points.

Courtney Cayard led the Shock (6-14) with 16 points.

Bluefield College (10-8) will visit Lindsey Wilson on Thursday.

CENTRAL, S.C. — Daniel Copeland had two hits and three runs batted in, and Jakob Schober contributed three hits, leading Bluefield College to a 6-2 win over Southern Wesleyan in the second game of a doubleheader.

 Ryan Shockey worked a seven-inning complete game, allowing six hits and two runs, while striking out four and walking two.

Bluefield (1-2) finished with nine hits and no errors in the field.

Julio Lara led Southern Wesleyan with two hits.

Southern Wesleyan, which defeated Bluefield 1-0 on Friday, earned a 2-0 shutout win in Saturday’s first game.

Matt Buss and Andrew Howard scattered five hits for Bluefield, including two by Copeland. The Rams also committed three errors.

Kenneth Miranda allowed six hits in four innings to take the loss for the Rams.

Bluefield (2-1) will travel to Benedict College in Columbia, S.C. on Friday and Saturday.
