Marshall, Ohio extend football series

HUNTINGTON — The most-played series in Marshall football history will be renewed after all.

Marshall and Ohio announced Monday that the two schools will meet in the “Battle for the Bell” in September 2019 in Huntington and the following September in Athens, Ohio.

The 58th game in the series takes place this season on Sept 13 at noon in Huntington on Marshall’s Hall of Fame Weekend in a contest that will televised on CBS Sports Network.

After the 2015 game on the Bobcats’ Peden Stadium, the series will go on hiatus until 2019.

The Bobcats have won the last three games — the last two by field goals.
