Bluefield, Bluefield State winless on court

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. — Tequila McNeal scored 22 points to lead four Bluefeld College Lady Rams in double figures, but Cumberlands, Ky. came out on top 73-64 on Saturday afternoon.

Dace Bicane led five Cumberland scorers with 17 points. Vernisha Moss added 14 and Ashley Mullins tallied 13.

Bluefield, which committed 27 turnovers, also received 15 points and 10 rebounds from Janee Simmons. Ashley White scored 11 points and Monique Robson added 10.

The Lady Rams will host Virginia-Lynchburg on Tuesday.



Fairmont State 81, Bluefield State 69

FAIRMONT — Shae Mebane scored a season-high 23 points, but Fairmont State scored 30 of its 81 points at the free-throw line in knocking off Bluefield State in Joe Retton Arena.

Charity Harris scored 14 points for the Lady Blues, while Charlene Diggs added 11.

Fairmont State was paced by Kaitlynn Snyder with 13.

Bluefield State (1-2, 1-2) will visit Ohio Valley on Dec. 10.



College Men

Cumberlands 96, Bluefield 77

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky.  — Antonio Bumpus scorched the nets for 24 points and James Archie added 21 off the bench in the win.

Bluefield was paced by Kearston Marion with 22 points and 20 points and 10 rebounds from Byron Carpenter. Andrew Wilson tallied 19 and Ed Porter added 12.

Benito Santiago, Jr. scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for Cumberlands.

Bluefield will play an exhibition game on Tuesday the University of Charleston.



Fairmont State 82, Bluefield State 72

FAIRMONT — Vincent Rogers scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, but the Big Blues dropped a WVIAC contest to the Falcons.

Johnny Uhegwu scored 12 points and Remar Brothers came off the bench to post 11 for the Big Blues (0-5, 0-3).

Isaiah Hill paced the Falcons (4-2, 2-1) with 18 points.

Bluefield State will visit King College next Saturday.
