Miami Hurricanes rout Va. Tech women

CORAL GABLES, Fla. — Miami restricted Virginia Tech to 21 percent shooting in the second half to run away with a 68-42 conference win on Sunday afternoon.

The Hokies (7-14, 1-9 ACC) took an early four-point lead but the Hurricanes (15-7, 6-5) finished the half with a 9-2 run to go ahead 39-23 at the break. Miami scored 12 of the first 14 points of the second half and coasted the rest of the way.

Miami out-rebounded their visitors 47 to 39 and scored 17 points off of 20 Virginia Tech turnovers — twice as many turnovers as Miami. The Hokies missed all seven of their three-point attempts.

Virginia Tech got 12 points and 13 rebounds from Uju Ugoka and Lauren Evans added 12 points and two steals.

Michelle Woods led a trio of Hurricanes in double figures with 15 points.
