ERIE, Pa. —
The Concord University men’s basketball team trailed Kutztown University by as many as 12 points Saturday, but was able to win its second game in as many days at the Mercyhurst College Invitational.
The 79-73 win over the Golden Bears featured nine lead changes.
Concord (2-0) had three players score in double figures with forward Damien Tunstalle leading the way with 19 points. Jordan Davis added 16 points and nine rebounds, and freshman guard Jake Bischoff scored 11 points.
Concord dominated the glass, with 13 offensive boards on their way to a 31-19 rebounding edge over Kutztown (0-2).
The Mountain Lions shot 42.3 percent (22-for-52) from the field and 40 percent (10-for-25) from three-point range. CU has made at least 10 three-pointers in both of its games this year.
Kutztown led 40-28 with four minutes to go in the first half, and were ahead 46-42 at the break.
Bischoff hit a three-pointer to give Concord its first lead of the second half, 58-57. CU made seven foul shots down the stretch to preserve the victory.
Micah Fraction led Kutz-town with a game-high 28 points and five assists.
The Mountain Lions will look to remain perfect on the season when they open up West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at 3 p.m. Nov. 17 vs. Pitt-Johnstown in the Carter Center.
