ETSU tops Marshall 88-78

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard scored 19 points and Hunter Harris had 17 points and 13 rebounds as East Tennessee State topped Marshall 88-78 on Saturday as part of the Roundball Showcase.

Harris was 8 of 9 from the field as the Buccaneers (3-5) shot 53.6 percent. Lester Wilson and Rashawn Rembert each added 13 points for ETSU.

Down 11-9 in the first half, the Buccaneers scored 10 straight points never trailed again. ETSU led by as many as 16 early in the second but Marshall (4-3) cut it to 72-69 with 5:10 to play. ETSU then went on a 12-5 run to extend its lead to 84-74.

Marshall shot just 18 of 35 from the free-throw line and was 6 of 30 on 3-pointers. Kareem Canty led Marshall with 19 points and Ryan Taylor grabbed 14 rebounds.
