CU's Lewis makes all-region team

ATHENS — Concord freshman outfielder Lauren Lewis has been named to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region softball second eam, the organization announced Monday.

In her first collegiate season, she started all 54 games, hitting .384 (63-for-164) with 39 runs, seven home runs, 37 RBI and 13 stolen bases. She set Concord single-season records with 20 doubles and 63 hits and put together a 20-game hitting streak.

She led the Mountain East Conference in doubles, ranked third in total bases (104), fifth in batting average and fifth in slugging percentage (.634).

Lewis helped lead the Mountain Lions to the program’s best season in school history; Concord won a record 31 games in 2014 including two MEC Tournament matchups.

Jacqui Omichinski of West Virginia Wesleyan and Shippensburg’s Emily Estep earned the region’s top honors after being named the Atlantic Region Player of the Year and the Pitcher of the Year, respectively.
