BSC women shut out Concord on tennis courts

ATHENS — The Bluefield State Lady Blues tennis team traveled across Mercer County on Monday and shut out Concord University 9-0 in Athens.

Bluefield State (2-3) got singles wins from Isabella Cubillos, Marijana Gjorgievska, Tafadzwa Mawasire, Maria Hernandez and Dragana Tomic. Concord did not field a sixth player, resulting in a forfeit.

The winning double teams were Cubillos and Gjorgievska, and Hernandez and Mawasire.

Bluefield State’s next two matches are at the Bluefield City Courts, against King College at 2 p.m. Friday and versus Tusculum at 1 p.m. Saturday. Both the women’s and men’s teams will be in action.

Concord (0-5) is scheduled to play this afternoon at new conference opponent UVa-Wise.
