Two from CU named MEC players of week

BRIDGEPORT — Concord University football players Josh Clark (top) and Andy Ellington (bottom), both from Scott Depot, were honored Monday as Mountain East Conference Players of the Week.

Clark, a senior defensive back, led another dominant defensive effort in a 20-3 win over West Liberty. He forced a fumble and picked off a pass, returning it 32 yards for a touchdown. He also recorded three tackles.

Ellington, the special teams player of the week, hit field goals of 48 and 42 yards on a 2-for-3 day in field-goal tries. The 48-yarder was a school record and the second longest kick by an MEC player this year. He also converted both of his point-after attempts for CU.
