JOHNSTOWN, Pa. —
The Concord baseball team used two different approaches in sweeping a pair of games Tuesday at Pitt-Johnstown.
Kevin Mack allowed one run on five hits as Concord took the opener 3-1. Chris Baker pitched the seventh for his second save.
Jerrod Groves and Josh Wenger hit sacrifice flies for the first two runs, and Devin Smith’s double in the seventh inning capped the scoring.
CU took the second game 6-3 after trailing 3-0 in the sixth inning. Bret Blevins’ three-run home run over the right field fence tied the game in that frame. Ryan Johnston finished off the Mountain Cats in the seventh with a two-run triple to end the scoring.
Freshman pitcher Chris Kelly (3-0) started game two for Concord and lasted six innings. He struck out three batters, gave up just two hits after the third inning and pitched perfect fifth and sixth innings. Tim Leather picked up his second save.
