Bluefield State (5-20, 4-13 WVIAC) trailed 10-6 entering the sixth inning at June O. Shott Field-Higginboth-am Sports Complex. Rainey then took the mound in relief and kept Glenville State (5-29, 4-18) off the scoreboard the rest of the day.

Dylan Raymond’s RBI double in the sixth pulled Bluefield State to within three and Tanner Lilly scored in the seventh to bring the score to 10-8. In the next inning, a two-run double from Alex Dunn knotted the game at 10.

The Pioneers led off the ninth with back-to-back singles from Sean Garza and Ethan Szabo but Rainey and the Big Blues defense settled in and recorded three consecutive outs.
