ROANOKE, Va. —
The Bluefield State men’s golf team followed up their WVIAC Southern Regional win by claiming the Roanoke Invitational Sunday for the third consecutive year at the 6,504 yard, par-71 Roanoke Country Club course.
The Big Blues, ranked fourth in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region, shot a tournament-low 299 on the first day and shot a 307 Sunday to finish with a 38-over par 606.
Bluefield State held off Hampden-Sydney College who shot Sunday’s low round, 305, and finished the event one stroke behind at 607.
All-WVIAC performer Jeff McGraw of Bluefield State and teammate Nick Dent shot identical rounds of 73 and 75 to tie for third place overall with a six-over par 148.
Tyler Browning finished tied for 14th after firing a 154 and Chandler Beavers posted a 156 to finish tied for 23rd. TJ Knight fired a 159. Jordan Nelson and JJ McPherson competed as individuals and scored a 164 and 176 respectively.
