Lady Blues fall twice to Thorobreds

BLUEFIELD, Va. — The Bluefield State softball team dropped a doubleheader to Kentucky State on Wednesday at the Graham Recreation Park, falling 5-0 and 4-2.

Kentucky State clubbed seven hits in the 5-0 opener, including home runs by Megan Jaramillo and Palaura Parker.

Bluefield State managed just two hits in the opener, singles by Brittany Cook and Meghan Dakins.

Lindsey Whited took the loss in the circle.

Bluefield State (5-17) collected six hits and two runs, with Allyson Hatfield leading the Blues with a double and single. Parker and Jaramillo had two hits each for the Thorobreds.

Amanda Cokeley took the loss for Bluefield State.


Charleston 10, Bluefield 3

CHARLESTON — Tyler Itnyre led Charleston’s 11-hit attack with three hits, and Ryan Foster and Tim Rein added two apiece to lead the Golden Eagles past the Big Blues.

Anthony Brunetti picked up the win, striking out six batters in five innings on the mound.

Jacob Muncy took the loss for Bluefield State. Kyle Blocker had an RBI for the Big Blues, which dropped to 8-14, including a 7-5 loss on Tuesday at Virginia-Wise.
