BSC sweeps Ohio Valley; CU splits with Senators

BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield State Lady Blues defeated Ohio Valley 71-61 in West Virginia Conference play on Monday night at Ned Shott Gymnasium.

Shae Mebane contributed 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Charity Harris scored 10 points and dished out five assists. Bluefield High School product Shay Gravely added seven points and 10 boards.

Ohio Valley (1-21, 1-17) had four players in double figures, led by Kayla Presley with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Bluefield State (12-9, 10-8) will visit Charleston on Thursday.

Davis & Elkins 69, Concord 61

ATHENS — Ashley Bowles came of the bench to score 18 points to lead the Senators past the Lady Lions.

Stephanie Wagner led Concord with 18 points and five assists. Katy Somerville tallied 14 points, while Rachel Artrip contributed 10 points and seven rebounds.

Alicia Lentz added 12 points for the Senators.

Concord will host Ohio Valley on Saturday.

Men’s game: Bluefield 90, Ohio Valley 71  

BLUEFIELD — Roy Cooper’s 27 points led the Big Blues to their third win of the season against the Scots.

Treon Claiborne tallied 13 points, nine rebounds and five assists for Bluefield State, while Joseph Dawkin scored 11 and Ryan Braxton added 10.

Ohio Valley (3-21 2-16) was led by Jerry Macon Jr. with 18 points.

Bluefield State (3-19, 3-15) will visit Charleston on Thursday.

Men's game: Concord 82, Davis & Elkins 74

ATHENS — Jordan Davis scored a career-high 24 points and also pulled down 10 rebounds, leading Concord to an 82-74 WVIAC victory over the Senators.

Damien Tunstalle provided 14 points and eight rebounds for the Mountain Lions, while Thomas Brown scored 13. Eric Bailey tallied nine points, five rebounds and six assists, while going turnover-free for a second straight game.

Mike Boyd added nine points, Gentry Shrewsbury added eight points and five rebounds, and Cam Shannon canned seven.

Davis & Elkins (7-6, 6-13) was paced by D’Quan Lynch with 23 points and 2 21 from Devin Miller.
