BSC tennis in WVIAC championship

CHARLESTON — Bluefield State notched a 5-0 victory over Shepherd in the first semifinal match to earn a spot in today’s WVIAC championship against Charleston. The Big Blues jumped on the board with an 8-1 win at the No. 1 doubles spot. Jacob Carey and Piotr Kruk garnered the victory. Vishwesh Sinha and Shikhar Kapur (left) teamed up for a thrilling 9-8 (3) triumph at the No. 2 position after trailing 7-4. Niklas Sparr and Vlad Catlan recorded an 8-2 win at the No. 3 slot. Kapur earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 3 while Kruk notched a 6-1, 6-0 win at the No. 5 position to clinch the match.
