CU's Diogo takes weekly honor

PRINCETON — Concord University’s Diogo Monteiro is the new WVIAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Week.

From the No. 1 singles position, he produced a 4-0 week, and at No. 1 doubles with Danny Fonrondona he was 2-2.

Monteiro ended the regular season 8-0 in singles and 14-3 overall. He is ranked 12th in the NCAA’s Division II Atlantic Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

Concord earned the fifth seed in this weekend’s WVIAC Tournament after completing the regular season with an 8-9 overall record and a 4-4 mark in league competition. The Mountain Lions will play at Shepherd Friday in quarterfinal action.
