Woman confronts burglary suspects with broom

— WINDHAM, Mass. — A snow bank and a 64-year-old woman with a broom were too much for two burglary suspects.

The incident occurred Thursday when a woman saw two strangers inside a neighbor’s home.

She told police she entered the nearby residence to see what the men were doing.

The woman said she discovered they had broken through two locked doors.

When they heard her, they attempted to flee and she confronted one of the men in the driveway with the broom. He tossed her aside and jumped in a car. But the escape failed when the suspect backed into a snow bank, Chief Gerald Lewis said.

“During his attempt to free the vehicle, the neighbor ran home and called police,” Lewis said.

Ultimately both men were arrested.
